Ulm 2026 — precision metalwork on a multi-storey residential scheme

A new residential apartment building in Ulm required the design, fabrication and installation of complete balustrade and railing systems for balconies, external staircases and communal access areas across all floors. The architectural specification called for powder-coated structural steel balustrades with stainless steel top rails and infill panels — a combination that demands precise fabrication tolerances to achieve consistent visual alignment across the full height of the building.

COME WORKS managed the full metalwork subcontract: shop drawing preparation from architectural details, workshop fabrication of all balustrade components, site delivery sequenced with the construction programme, installation and final handover inspection. Every weld was visually inspected and all connections were torqued to specification.

Working on two independent nuclear power plants is no coincidence — it is the result of systematic investment in certifications, processes and building a team that can work where ordinary subcontractors simply cannot.

Residential metalwork — where safety and aesthetics are equally non-negotiable

Balustrades and railings on residential buildings are subject to strict load testing requirements under DIN EN 1090 and the German building regulations (Bauordnungsrecht). A balustrade that fails a load test or shows weld defects is not a punchlist item — it is a structural non-conformance that halts the project.

Our fabrication and installation process is designed to eliminate this risk. Every structural connection is made to a defined procedure, every completed section is inspected before the next is started, and every installation is handed over with a complete quality record. German general contractors working with COME WORKS on residential metalwork do not find surprises at inspection.

“Balustrades are simple components. Installing them correctly, consistently, across an entire building — that requires a system, not just a skill.”
